Loew’s Kings Theater

Designed in a neo-French Renaissance style and built in 1929, the historic theater was one of the five Loew’s Wonder Theaters. The theater deteriorated significantly after its closure in 1977.
Li · Saltzman Architects prepared a Feasibility Study for the restoration, adaptive use and expansion of the Loew’s Kings Theater for the New York City Economic Development Corporation. Organizing an interdisciplinary team of structural engineers, mechanical engineers, LEED consultants, and theater consultants, Li · Saltzman Architects analyzed the feasibility of re-use of the Loew’s Kings Theater as an arts center. As part of this project, LSA assessed the existing conditions, conducted archival research, coordinated with marketing analysts, developed schematic designs, evaluated options for use of Historic Preservation Tax Credits and LEED certification, and worked with the Construction Manager in the preparation of cost estimates. The former Loew’s Theater is now a venue for the performing arts, Kings Brooklyn.
