345 Adams Street
New York, NY
345 Adams Street is a block-long thirteen-story office building featuring highly ornamental terra cotta cornices, band courses, arches, and window enframements. The NYC Department of Citywide Administrative Services sought an economically viable phased exterior restoration program.
As the Preservation Architect, Li · Saltzman provided services from documentation of existing conditions through construction administration. To effectively meet the budget restraints, prioritized areas for restoration were determined. The work, carefully coordinated with structural reinforcement, included the replication of significant terra cotta cornices and ornament, and the restoration of glazed brick, limestone, and stucco. With a limited budget, the architectural integrity of the building was restored.
